The race for the NHL playoffs, week 7

Very similar to the way I’ve been doing these posts for the Premiership (link), but as I don’t have the game-by-game results for the NHL, the % teams are represents the proportion of teams that have achieved the required pace over a full season.

East: (Teams need 53 points to get in, unchanged from week 6)

West: (Teams need 54 points to get in, unchanged from week 6)

There were good weeks for San Jose (2-0-1), Minnesota (3-1-0), and Carolina (3-1-0), and bad weeks for Tampa Bay (0-4-0), Edmonton (0-3-0), and St. Louis (1-2-0).

Qualification watch:

Chicago became the first team to qualify and they’ll soon be joined by Anaheim (who will qualify with 5 points from two games against Phoenix, and one each against Calgary and St. Louis), Boston (who need 4 points from games against Washington, Toronto, and Philadelphia), and Montreal (who need 5 points from their road trip to the Islanders, Carolina, Tampa Bay, and Florida).

Elimination watch:

Columbus will need to pick up six points from their four games this week to stay alive (they face Edmonton, Vancouver, and Detroit twice), and Florida need four points from their four games (against Winnipeg twice, Washington, and Montreal). Finally, Buffalo must pick up at least one point from their road trip to Carolina, New Jersey, and Philadelphia.
